Ferrari - Italian car brands
Ferrari Brand
Italy is famed for its production of high quality sports cars such as Lamborghini and Maserati, however by far the most famous type of Italian super car is the Ferrari. Whether it is the icon of the Cavallino Rampante ("prancing horse") or the classic red Ferrari P4/5, Ferrari is an instantly recognizable model and brand, and arguably one of
Italy's most famous.
The company was founded in the 1920s by Enzo Ferrari in Maranello, Italy which today is known as the 'car capital of Italy'. Ferrari still has their headquarters based there today, including test tracks and manufacturing plants.
While Ferrari originally started out making cars for professional racing, the company soon turned their sights into producing standard road cars, such as the 125S in 1947. The company rapidly gained a reputation for high quality products, and it was not long before Ferrari was manufacturing top-of-the-line luxury super cars.
Today, Ferrari is attempting to make their vehicles more sustainable with concept designs for models run on biofuel or via electric batteries. This year at the Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled the HY-KERS Concept, a hybrid car that is still capable of the top speeds Ferraris are famed for.
Ferrari's appeal is so great, that the name has even transcended the motor industry and as such, the company has a popular range of clothing, watches and other merchandise. The company's online store is growing ever more popular, and with Ferrari still performing strongly in F1 motor racing, general road cars and super cars, its appeal is unlikely to wane any time soon.
