Things can literally get 'Lost in Translation' and for Italian translations it is essential to use a native translator. We get a lot of enquiries and work in fact from clients who have used an employee or someone who has studied Italian and we end up having to tidy the translation and all of the errors that have been written into the text.
The same problem happens in Italy whereby the restaurant owner allows an Italian person to translate the Italian menu in English even though the Italian is not a native English speaker. As you will see below from one of our favourite restaurants in Rome, Italy, some translations get lost in translation and results in:
- Tuna fish becomes Tunny fish
- Slices becomes Silices
- Lettuce becomes Lettice
